Contractor Testimonials
"3 years ago I was ready to leave the games industry. Disillusioned, with companies all around me hitting the wall, I couldn't see a future. I accepted a short term contract with Game Ops to give me some time to think, but it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. I was able to concentrate on my work without the hassles of company politics and problems and so I have been contracting ever since. The variety of work is great and I have renewed enthusiasm for the industry. Unlike some agencies, Game Ops offer support and assistance throughout the contract and whether you are working in-house or from home, they are always there to offer friendly advice and encouragement. Contracting with Game Ops was the best decision I ever made." Carleen - Freelance Artist
“Contracting is becoming a more accepted norm in the ever expanding game industry. Game Ops provide an excellent service in not only finding positions but also the supporting the relationship with your client. I have used them for many years and will continue to do so.” Richard Weeks - Freelance Programmer
"Game Ops are perfect for the longer term contracts that freelancers often find difficult to land. The feedback they provide on the job and the professional service makes freelancing a pleasure again. Highly recommended!" Robin - Freelance Animator
“One of the most important things for me is the feeling that I'm not another name on the contact list. I never get off the shelf e-mails and when I have any concerns or questions, the response is immediate. With other agents although we might have been in contact for a while when I would contact them it would feel like "who are you again, let me check my list?" All the job offers that I had up to now are always according to my request and abilities. Ii have been in the situation with other agents trying to persuade me that a job would be good for me when I think otherwise. Very reliable in payments and in general. I never spend much time without a contract, there's always something else around the corner. It really has been positive only experience for me up to now.” Antonis - Freelance Artist
“Good professional service that will match your skills to jobs. They won't pressure you into taking a contract you are not sure about and will look after all parties interests. Plenty of good friendly advice offered as well.” Francis - Freelance Artist
“Game Ops gives me the opportunity to work on a variety of projects within my own environment; a place where I am most productive and least distracted. When I started out, back in the early days of the Amiga and Atari, games were something of a cottage industry. Even then, with the comparatively primitive modem connections available, work was accomplished without sacrificing too much in the way of intangibles such as the quality of life and job satisfaction. These days studios seem to occupy increasingly large open plan spaces, often well appointed and benign in their own way, whilst not exactly dark Satanic mills', there is a battery hen feel to the workforce which does not appeal to me personally. The chance to move to new areas for short term placements also gives me sense of the overall tone of the industry without necessarily getting embroiled in the local issues of a particular establishment. Which is revealing and provides some chance to keep up with the latest practices. There is increasing awareness of the health and environmental issues associated with extensive commuting, and I like to feel that flexible tele-working is a modern and Earth friendly employment option.” Pete - Freelance Artist
“I have found Game Ops to provide an invaluable service, both in advice given and in furthering my career. Unlike many agencies I have dealt with, Game Ops have listened to my requirements and found roles suitable to my skills and preferences.” Graeme - Freelance Programmer
“Game Ops helped me make the jump from being a permanent employee, to branching out and becoming a freelancer. The transition, although daunting at first, was made simple and stress free by both Steph and Susan. They were always there to offer great advice, help and insightful knowledge. They had an uncanny knack of matching me with perfect freelancing roles and very soon companies were asking for me by name and the jobs were rolling in. More recently, they have also placed me back into a permanent role and again made the move as stress free as possible. Game Ops is not the type of company that places candidates and then forgets all about them once they've received their commission. I have always stayed in regular contact with them and honestly felt like they were looking after my best interests. Over my 10 years in the industry I've dealt with most agencies and Game Ops have always come up trumps! I would fully recommend Game Ops to those looking for both freelance and permanent roles. Steph and Susan remain extremely friendly, genuine and helpful in an area where most companies just want a quick buck!” Simon - Graphic Designer
“I've been working with Game Options Ltd now for four years and I've had a great experience. Firstly, and perhaps most alluring for me, is the financial reward. I was surprised to have such a big increase on my earnings compared to the same job working for a company full time. This easily allows me to cover all those extras that you need to take care of such as a pension. As for time off it works well, the contracts offer great flexibility I can pick and choose when I want to work and with the money being good the days I have off don't effect my finances at all. The type of work is great too, there's good variation so it never becomes boring. This also helps my CV and builds a great skill set which gives me greater freedom to pick and choose the work I want to do. Steph and Susan are great people to work with, they are friendly and make sure you are happy with every contract, if there are any problems they're on the case making sure things run smoothly. I have no reservations in highly recommending Game Options Ltd, it works great for me.” Tim - Freelance Artist
